I watch the Bachelor and Bachelorette. I do. And I want to write about it and how it makes me feel.

ABC.com - The Bachelor - The Bachelorette Announcement

ABC.com - The Bachelor - The Bachelorette Announcement

ABC intoduced the Bachelorettes on their website. Pictures, ages, occupations and hometowns. Click above and check the ladies out. I'll post my picks later.

Comment of intrigue for the day (said in comment section about bachelorette Beth. I'll highlight the best parts.):
I've known Beth for about 15 years. She must be outta money or desperate for a man because this is SO like her. Back when we went to school together she was a backstabber, a liar, and NOT a very good friend. In fact, I'm not sure how many friends from "the good ole days" she's even is in contact with anymore. She moves around a lot, uses men to get what she wants (she was sued by an ex for money she "borrowed" and never paid back You can see her on an episode of Christina's Court). AND a "nanny?" I highly doubt it. She uses that as an occupation so people don't ask questions. And I'm sure she's good with kids...oh wait, she gave her own up for adoption!!

There is some serious drama on the horizon.

Events until Bachelor!

Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, the Epiphany of Christ AND THEN Bachelor!

It's coming up, so be ready. Block off your evening for January 4, 2010.

What dish should I eat that night...special cocktail? Do I invite friends over...I don't behave well when people talk during this show because each word counts towards guessing who the final lady will be. I'll have to think on this one.

Happy anticipating!

Flying High on the Wings of Love

There is just not a blogger font pretty enough to write the name for this season of the Bachelor (Jake is a commercial pilot):

On the Wings of Love

*Does anyone know the other titles of seasons past? I may look into this for future discussion.

I'm making lofty promises

I told my husband Ryan that I plan to watch and blog simultaneously when the next season of Bachelor starts, and I am getting pumped up.

Soon, the commercials will start. They will flash bright, sexy ads with all the right snippets of conversation to get me, the targeted viewer, to vow my Monday nights over to ABC.

There is nothing much up yet at ABC's Bachelor/Bachelorette website. I'll be sure to post when the bios are up of all the women vying for old Jake's attentive gaze.

JANUARY 4th @ 7pm central time. Be on your couch and online reading my instant updates and viewing the Bachelor.

(Um, are his arms even real? He needs a girlfriend, so he has more to do than lift weights all the time. Not that I am against his arms. They are nice. *Certainly, there will be more on this topic later.)

2010 Approaches

To prove how sucked in by the show I am, I was too focused to even blog about it. I think a few other responsibilities in my life kept me from blogging too, but those have cleared and there is a new season ahead in 2010.

Last season, Jake became a man of interest. He has great posture and talks with a drawl. His MO was that women always overlooked him because, in their words, he is "too perfect." I dare say he came across as Mr. Goody-Two-Shoes. However, he's smart, has a good job and seems uber nice. I think it will be interesting to watch the overly nice guy try to navigate the Bachelor scene. I mean, if you are Mr. Manners and Morals, how will you handle so many ladies? Will the women be into that?

Why I Watch the Bachelorette

When ABC choose Jillian, I knew I was a typical American female viewer. I had vowed to stop watching the Bachelor and Bachelorette the moment Jason dumped Melissa moments after I had viewed their fairy tale engagement. Committing my heart to these real life people to only see heart break and pain left me feeling confused.

Then they announced Jillian as the next Bachelorette, and I knew I was in. Almost instantly. I'll get sucked in again. I'll demand all in the room shut up the moment the show comes on and keep their mouths closed while I try to percieve every nuance that the show's producers are willing to display to me.

This show is a mystery to solve. Human relationships to watch and study. It's about love. It's about today's views on romance and reality. I like to see their faces and try to decipher the commercials. By the end, I am too far in for my own good.

Be prepared to read my heart's irrational reactions to this show. It is here that I will document my obsession, study my reactions and report what happens to me, the viewer, when I watch the story unfold.

I'm not saying I am proud to be so attentive to this show. I'm just admitting the truth and putting it out there. Join me.
